The segment gates proposed by MACOBATE are generally designed to have a simple effect operation.
This means that the segment gate must be capable of closing under its own weight without any external action. This is to ensure the safety of the water intake, bottom outlet and spillways.
The segment gates are designed based on a cylinder segment supported by tablets arm and transferring the load to the hydraulic engineering.
The segment gate pivots about a horizontal axis, which passes through the bearings center. This configuration provides a segment gate to neutral behavior with no tendency to either closing or opening.
When necessary, an eccentricity of the center of the curvature of the gate can be considered to allow à lifting moment facilitating the opening of the gate.
The structure of the leaf is formed of welded horizontal girders and vertical ribs calculated according to the DIN 19704 standard.
The gate structure transmits the hydraulic load to both arms working in compression. These arms are made from steel profiles or variable section box beams.
Embedded steel parts are connected to the concrete to ensure the contact of seals and therefore the sealing of the gate.
Sealed parts are designed to enable the precise leveling of the embedded parts and ensure perfect sealing.
