💧 A Landmark Project of Moroccan Ingenuity

The RHISS Dam, located in the province of Al Hoceima, has been successfully completed and officially handed over after more than two years of intense work led by MACOBATE, a national leader in the design and manufacturing of hydromechanical and electromechanical equipment for major hydraulic infrastructures. This project, carried out for the Ministry of Equipment and Water, marks a major milestone in Morocco's national program for water security and sustainable resource management.

⚙️ Technical Challenges Overcome with Boldness and Method

The works covered all hydromechanical systems of the dam: guard wagon gates, segment regulating gates, stoplogs, by-pass conduits, intake and outlet pipelines, as well as the complete automation and control system.

In a complex mountainous environment with limited access, MACOBATE relied on engineering precision and intelligent planning, focusing on the rational use of resources rather than their abundance. Each component was designed and prefabricated to minimize on-site work, ensuring fast, safe, and perfectly aligned installations.

This approach was driven by a highly qualified technical team and deeply optimized working methods, where every detail was anticipated from the design phase. A remarkable example of this engineering foresight was the installation of the segment gate, where the team designed and used a temporary alignment frame (template) for the positioning of its trunnions — a method that significantly reduced on-site adjustments and ensured perfect alignment from the very first operation.

One of the project's most remarkable innovations lies in the design and fabrication by MACOBATE's engineers of a horizontal isolation flap integrated into the guard gate — a first of its kind in Morocco. Developed from lessons learned across previous dam operations, this system offers a reliable, durable, and fully Moroccan-engineered solution to replace conventional rotating isolation gates, which often suffer from misalignment and leakage issues.
